All along the line, fast changeover is achieved through a powered slitter indexing system for offline setup, push-button slitter tooling lock-up, powered indexing tension rolls, quick-change tooling bars and automatic transmissions on all DC motors. The electrical controls system is key to increasing yield by automating functions that traditionally have been operator-adjusted.
Other design elements promote high yield output such as slit edge quality, straight-wall slit coils as well as the ability to hold tight slit strip tolerances. The slitter heads on this line feature optimal large diameter arbor design to minimize tooling deflection and run out and may eliminate your need for double pass runs, which can potentially increase production by 100 percent. The roll-only tension stand is specifically designed to protect surface critical materials which results in fewer coil rejects. The Chicago Slitter recoiler and recoiler drum design winds a right, straight-walled coil. The unique gripper slot design on the drum accommodates all types of material, but is most effective in protecting surface sensitive materials from damage as the coil builds on the drum.
